The name we couldn't say no to
For over a century, miners took a small yellow bird underground because it noticed the danger first. The canary didn't fix anything and didn't need to. It bought people the only thing that mattered: time to act before the problem became a tragedy. That's the whole job, sensed early, said plainly, in time to do something about it.
Then there's the engineering half of the joke. Every modern truck runs its nervous system over something called the CAN bus, the network that carries every signal the engine, brakes, and sensors produce. Our device lives on that network and listens to all of it. A canary on the CAN bus. We tried to come up with a better name. We couldn't, and honestly, we stopped trying.
